That greenish-yellow Farben Glass wasn't the prettiest stuff in the world either but it seems like it's going to outlast a lot of Herters Bow buyers who bought these bows back in the 1960's and 1970's. They were weren't the most expensive bow on the market back in the day and as I stated back then everyone thought that the more you paid for your bow the better it had to have been. I don't know why someone doesn't bring those old Herters Bows back to life. Those old wooden Kitchen Chairs area a recurve bows best friends if you learn to use them properly. Do not, I repeat, do mot try to string these bows useing the twisting across the leg method or you might end up with a shattered limb and for sure a twisted limb. Be very careful stringing these bows and always use a Bowstringer or lay them on two Kitchen Chairs facing each other and then push down on the handle while somone else slips the string on that is if the chairs have straight backed top edges to lay the limbs on, plus you need to lay towels on the Chair back so the limbs will slide down on the towel when you are pushing down on the handle center section to put the string on. And I liked the hand grip and how the arrow shelf was up over my hand on the Sitka Magnum model. My personal thought is that the Herter Sitka Magnum was the best shooter of the Herters lot. They were probably underated because back in the day everyone thought that the more a bow cost, the better it was. I've got Four Herters Sitka Magnums at this time, plus I've owned some of the Perfection Models and the Premier Models and I always thought that there were one of the most "underated" bows that were ever produced back in the day.
